Grape variety
The LUYT Colheita 2021 Branco is made from Gouveio, Viosinho and Rabigato, typical indigenous Portuguese white grape varieties, which gives this wine its unique character.
Vineyard/Terroir
The LUYT Colheita 2021 Branco comes from grapes from a field specially selected by Maarten van Luyt at an average altitude of 550m on the south side of the Douro Valley in the UNESCO World Heritage area. Due to the indirect sun on the northern slopes, the grapes develop slowly but vigorously here. The soil is mainly slate. The yield is 3000 kg/ha.
Production
Colheita
The LUYT Colheita 2021 Branco may be called a Colheita because it meets the high-quality requirements of the IVDP (Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e do Porto).
Year
The year 2021 has been a good year for Douro wines with a relatively long harvest period and higher yields than the two previous years. The heat waves that affected other regions in Europe spared the Douro. After the rather cool and dry summer, the wine regions were treated to very welcome rainfall at the end of August, which has given the plants another boost to produce beautiful, usable fruit.
